Energy Efficient House

An energy efficient house is built with planetary needs taken into account. In particular, such a place is designed to optimize energy usage. One aspect of this efficiency comes in the passive design. In a home built to be green, making the most of available light, heat, and shade from the sun and environment is integral.

On another level, an energy efficient house will have many built in mechanical features that are green in nature. For instance, space heating and cooling may make use of solar heating technology. Water may also be heated with solar thermal collectors.

Going hand in hand with this, an energy efficient house will have plenty of Energy Star certified appliances. These include washers for clothing and dishes, fridges, and more. Plenty of smaller products are also evaluated according to this standard. These include light bulbs, computers, battery chargers and televisions.
